Rabbi Joseph B Soloveitchik

Synopsis

Devarim - Rav Soloveitchik Chumash is a commentary on the Book of Deuteronomy from the perspective of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. It explores the deep, philosophical insights of the Rabbi, known for his intellectual approach to both the Talmud and Jewish philosophy. The book provides a profound look at the themes and questions of faith, leadership, and law that arise from the final book of the Torah.

Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik (the Rav) was the towering rabbinic thinker of the twentieth century. In addition to his wellspring of Torah knowledge, the Rav taught, wrote and lectured extensively on Chumash (the Pentateuch). The Rav, however, never wrote a systematic commentary on Chumash, and, until now, the only way to study his interpretation and analysis of Chumash was to search for pertinent material by wading through the Rav's published writings and hard-to-find audio tapes of his lectures and shiurim.

Now, for the first time, the Rav's teachings on Chumash have been collected into a published commentary. Commentary by the Rav on the weekly Haftarah is included.

- The Chumash includes the full Rashi and Onkelos commentary in the original Hebrew / Aramaic
