Avi Weiss

Rabbi Avi Weiss is an American Modern Orthodox rabbi, author, teacher, and activist known for his involvement in Jewish causes and his leadership in the Modern Orthodox community. He founded the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, a synagogue in the Bronx, New York, and is also the founder of Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, a Modern Orthodox rabbinical seminary. Rabbi Weiss has been a prominent advocate for human rights, including the rights of Soviet Jews during the 1980s and has been involved in numerous protests and causes that seek to promote justice and understanding.
