Joseph Herman Hertz
Joseph Herman Hertz (1872-1946) was a prominent Jewish Rabbi and biblical scholar, born in Slovakia and later based in the United Kingdom. He served as the Chief Rabbi of the British Empire from 1913 until his death. Hertz was well-known for his intellectual contributions to Jewish thought and his efforts to make Jewish texts accessible to English-speaking Jews. His works often focused on the interpretation of the Hebrew Bible and he was a staunch defender of traditional Jewish beliefs and practices in the face of modern secular challenges.
