George Plimpton

George Ames Plimpton was an American journalist, writer, literary editor, actor, and occasional amateur sportsman. He is widely known for his sports writing and for helping to found The Paris Review, as well as his patrician demeanor and accent. Plimpton was fearless when it came to immersing himself in his writing; his participatory journalism led him to perform as a temporary amateur in professional sporting events, circus acts, and other performances, which he then wrote about. His most famous work, 'Paper Lion,' about his tryout with the Detroit Lions of the NFL, is a testament to his adventurous spirit and his literary prowess.
