Yitzhak Ben-Zvi

Yitzhak Ben-Zvi was born in Poltava, in the Russian Empire (today in Ukraine). He was a historian, a Labor Zionist leader, and the second President of Israel. His scholarly work focused on the Jewish communities in the Muslim world and the history of the Land of Israel. Throughout his career, Ben-Zvi was involved in the Jewish community's affairs and Zionist activities, which were instrumental in the establishment of the State of Israel.
