Meir Y Soloveichik

Rabbi Dr. Meir Y. Soloveichik is a prominent American Orthodox rabbi, scholar, and public speaker. He serves as the rabbi of Congregation Shearith Israel, the oldest Jewish congregation in the United States, located in New York City. Rabbi Soloveichik is also the director of the Zahava and Moshael Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought at Yeshiva University, where he teaches courses that explore the intersection of Jewish thought, theology, and philosophy with Western political, civic, and historical narratives.

Educated at Yeshiva University, Rabbi Soloveichik graduated summa cum laude in English Literature and received semicha (rabbinical ordination) from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Religion from Princeton University. His dissertation focused on the religious development of American Orthodox Judaism, and he has written extensively on religious themes in the works of Shakespeare, the philosophy of American democracy, and the history of American religious thought.

As a public intellectual, Rabbi Soloveichik frequently contributes to various publications and speaks on topics related to religion and public life, Jewish history, and philosophy. He is known for his eloquent speeches and essays that seek to explain and illuminate Jewish theology and its relevance to contemporary issues.
