Gene Luen Yang
Gene Luen Yang is an acclaimed graphic novelist and the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. He began drawing comic books in the fifth grade, and he has since written and drawn a number of titles. His books have won several awards, including the Printz Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and several Eisner Awards. Yang's well-known works include 'American Born Chinese,' which was the first graphic novel to be nominated for a National Book Award and the first to win the American Library Association's Printz Award. His other works include 'Boxers & Saints' and 'The Shadow Hero.' In addition to writing and drawing, Yang teaches creative writing through Hamline University’s MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program.
