Kalman Samuels
Kalman Samuels is the founder and president of Shalva, the Israel Association for the Care and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. His journey began when his son, Yossi, was injured by a faulty DPT vaccination, leaving him deaf and blind. This life-altering event propelled Kalman to establish Shalva in 1990, which has since grown into a world-renowned organization providing services to individuals with disabilities and their families.
Under Kalman's leadership, Shalva has developed a variety of programs that promote social inclusion, education, and therapy, all tailored to the needs of individuals with disabilities. The organization's state-of-the-art center in Jerusalem offers a range of services, including early intervention programs, inclusive educational frameworks, and vocational training, helping participants to achieve their fullest potential.
In addition to his work with Shalva, Kalman Samuels is an inspirational speaker and author. His book, 'Dreams Never Dreamed,' is a memoir that details his personal journey and the profound impact of his work. The book serves as a source of inspiration and a call to action for communities worldwide to embrace and support people with disabilities.
