Cassandra Clare

Cassandra Clare is the pseudonym of Judith Lewis (née Rumelt), born July 27, 1973, in Tehran, Iran. She is a bestselling American author best known for her series of young adult fantasy books, particularly the 'Shadowhunter Chronicles,' which includes 'The Mortal Instruments' series, 'The Infernal Devices' trilogy, and more. Clare moved to the United States as a child and spent her high school years in Los Angeles and her college years in New York City. She started her career writing fan fiction under the name Cassandra Claire, particularly known for her 'Harry Potter' fan fiction.

Before becoming a full-time author, Clare worked in various entertainment magazines and tabloids, including 'The Hollywood Reporter.' Her first book, 'City of Bones,' which is the first installment in 'The Mortal Instruments' series, was published in 2007. This series has been highly popular among young adults and has been adapted into both a major motion picture and a television series titled 'Shadowhunters.'

Apart from 'The Mortal Instruments,' Clare's 'The Infernal Devices' trilogy is also well-received, with the first book, 'Clockwork Angel,' being published in 2010. 'Chain of Gold' is part of another series called 'The Last Hours,' which is a sequel to 'The Infernal Devices.' Clare's work is characterized by her complex characters, intricate world-building, and blending of various mythological and historical elements with contemporary settings.
