Mosab Hassan Yousef
Mosab Hassan Yousef is a Palestinian who was born in Ramallah in 1978. He is famously known as the son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of the Islamist militant group Hamas. Mosab's early life was deeply entrenched in the culture and activities of Hamas, which influenced his initial perspectives and actions within the Palestinian territories.
In the late 1990s, Mosab was arrested by the Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service, which marked the beginning of a turning point in his life. He eventually became an informant for the Shin Bet, working against Hamas activities. This period of his life is detailed in his autobiography, 'Son of Hamas', where he describes his covert involvement with the Israeli intelligence, which led to significant arrests and prevention of attacks.
After moving to the United States in the early 2000s, Mosab Yousef converted to Christianity, a decision that led to further estrangement from his family and former associates. His life story has been featured in various media outlets and has been a subject of controversy and interest around the world, highlighting issues of identity, religion, and the complex politics of the Middle East.
