Avi Katz

Avi Katz is the illustrator of the JPS Illustrated Children's Bible. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Israel in 1970. Katz studied at the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts) and at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, where he now teaches. He has illustrated over 160 books in both the United States and Israel, spanning genres and formats including children's books, textbooks, and political cartoons. Katz's illustrations are known for their vibrant and detailed depictions that bring stories to life. His work has been recognized and awarded in both the United States and Israel, reflecting his significant contribution to the field of illustration.
