Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau

Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau is a prominent figure in the Jewish world, known for his spiritual leadership and profound insights into Jewish law and philosophy. Born in 1937 in Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland, he survived the Holocaust as a young child and later immigrated to Israel. He became the Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv in 1985, and in 1993, he was elected as the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, a position he held until 2003. Rabbi Lau is renowned for his efforts in promoting peace and reconciliation, both within the Jewish community and beyond.
