Catherine Hezser
Catherine Hezser is a Professor of Jewish Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. She specializes in the study of Jewish society in the Roman and Byzantine periods, with a particular focus on the Talmud and Jewish law. Hezser has published extensively on the social history of Jewish law, the role of rabbis in ancient society, and the interaction between Jewish and Roman legal traditions. Her work often explores the everyday lives of Jews during this period, drawing on archaeological as well as textual evidence to inform her research.
