Rabbi Yehuda Halevi

Rabbi Yehuda Halevi (c. 1075–1141) was a Jewish physician, poet, and philosopher, born in Spain during the medieval period. He is best known for his religious and philosophical poetry, much of which integrates themes of longing for the land of Israel. His most famous work, The Kuzari, defends Judaism by engaging in a philosophical dialogue between the king of the Khazars and a Jewish scholar. Rabbi Halevi's contributions to Jewish thought and his poetic expressions of Zionism have had a lasting impact on Jewish philosophy and literature.
