R.J.Z. Werblowsky

Raphael Jehudah Zwi Werblowsky (1924-2015) was a prominent scholar of comparative religion and Jewish studies. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, he moved to the United Kingdom and later to Israel. Werblowsky served as a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was instrumental in founding the Department of Comparative Religion. His contributions to the study of Jewish mysticism, Kabbalah, and the comparative study of religions are highly regarded. He authored and edited numerous books and articles, exploring a wide range of religious and philosophical topics, and was known for his deep insights into the spiritual and cultural dimensions of religion.
