Erich Segal

Erich Segal was an American author, screenwriter, and educator known for his best-selling novel 'Love Story'. Born on June 16, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, he was a professor of Greek and Latin literature at Harvard University before venturing into writing. Segal's academic background deeply influenced his works, blending elements of classical literature with contemporary narratives. 'Love Story', his most famous work, was originally written as a screenplay before being adapted into a novel. It became a significant cultural phenomenon in the 1970s, reflecting themes of love and loss that resonated with a wide audience. Segal also wrote several other novels and screenplays, including the sequel to 'Love Story' titled 'Oliver's Story'. He continued to write and teach throughout his life, contributing to both the academic and literary communities until his death on January 17, 2010.
