David Max Eichhorn

David Max Eichhorn (1906–1986) was a Jewish chaplain in the United States Army, an author, and a rabbi active in the Jewish Reform community. He was born in Columbia, Pennsylvania, and pursued his religious studies at Hebrew Union College, where he was ordained in 1931. Throughout his career, Eichhorn was known for his commitment to Jewish education and his efforts in interfaith dialogue. He served in various congregations across the United States and was deeply involved in the civil rights movement. During World War II, Eichhorn was notable for his service as a chaplain, particularly during the liberation of Dachau concentration camp, and his post-war efforts helped to rebuild Jewish communities in Europe.
