Yehuda Henkin
Rabbi Yehuda Herzl Henkin (1945-2020) was a prominent Orthodox rabbi and posek (Jewish legal scholar) known for his halachic responsa. He was born in the United States and later moved to Israel, where he became a significant figure in religious circles. Rabbi Henkin authored several influential books on Jewish law and thought, including positions on contemporary issues affecting the Jewish community.
Rabbi Henkin was recognized for his moderate and often innovative halachic rulings, particularly regarding women's roles in Judaism. He was the author of 'Benei Banim', a four-volume set of responsa addressing a wide range of Jewish legal questions. His works reflect a deep commitment to the principles of Orthodox Judaism while engaging with modernity and its challenges.
Throughout his career, Rabbi Henkin served as a teacher and mentor to many students. He was respected for his scholarly approach and his ability to balance strict adherence to Jewish law with sensitivity to the needs of the modern world. His passing marked the loss of a deeply thoughtful and compassionate leader in the Jewish legal community.
