Rav Noson of Breslov
Rav Noson of Breslov, also known as Reb Noson, was born Nathan Sternhartz in 1780 in the city of Nemirov, Ukraine. He is best known as the leading disciple and scribe of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, the founder of the Breslov Hasidic dynasty. Reb Noson devoted his life to preserving and expanding the teachings of Rebbe Nachman, which are centered around deep spiritual insights and practical advice for personal growth and happiness.
After the death of Rebbe Nachman in 1810, Reb Noson took on the responsibility of leading the Breslov community and ensuring that the Rebbe's teachings would continue to be studied and disseminated. He authored many works, the most famous being 'Likutey Halachot,' an eight-volume commentary on the Shulchan Aruch (Code of Jewish Law) based on Rebbe Nachman's teachings.
