Michael Oren
Michael Bornstein Oren is an American-born Israeli historian, author, politician, former ambassador, and deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Office. Born in upstate New York, he made aliyah (immigrated to Israel), changed his last name to Oren, and has had a distinguished career in both the United States and Israel. Oren served as Israel's Ambassador to the United States from 2009 to 2013, during which time he was instrumental in managing the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Oren has written extensively on Middle Eastern history and is well-known for his books on the subject. His most famous book, 'Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East,' won multiple awards and is considered a definitive account of the 1967 Six-Day War. Oren's work has contributed significantly to the understanding of the Middle East in Western literature.
Apart from his political and diplomatic career, Oren has also ventured into fiction writing. 'The Night Archer: and Other Stories,' a collection of short stories, showcases his versatility as a writer.
