Hershel Schachter

Rabbi Hershel Schachter is a prominent Orthodox rabbi, posek, and rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS). Born in 1941, he has become one of the leading authorities in Halacha (Jewish law). Rabbi Schachter was a close student of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, from whom he received semicha (rabbinical ordination), and under whose guidance he developed a deep understanding of Jewish law and philosophy.
