Abraham J. Twerski was an American Hasidic rabbi and psychiatrist who was born in 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died in 2021. He was a scion of the Chernobyl Hasidic dynasty and was renowned for his contributions to the fields of addiction treatment and psychiatry. Twerski founded the Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, recognized as one of the United States' leading drug and alcohol treatment centers.
