Alan T. Levenson is a scholar of Jewish history and thought, with a particular focus on the modern period. He currently serves as the Schusterman/Josey Chair in Judaic History at the University of Oklahoma. His work often bridges the gap between academic scholarship and community education, aiming to make Jewish studies accessible and relevant to a broader audience.

Levenson's publications cover a wide range of topics within Jewish studies, including biblical interpretation, the history of Jewish education, and modern Jewish philosophy. His approach to the study of the Hebrew Bible and Jewish texts is characterized by a critical yet respectful analysis, aiming to understand these texts within both ancient and modern contexts. His book 'The Making of the Modern Jewish Bible' is a testament to his deep engagement with how Jewish scriptures have been read and interpreted over the centuries.
