Dr. David Pelcovitz
Dr. David Pelcovitz holds the Gwendolyn and Joseph Straus Chair in Jewish Education at Yeshiva University’s Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, where he teaches courses in pastoral psychology, psychology of adolescence, and managing traumatic stress in schools. His expertise in psychology has led him to speak and publish extensively on topics related to trauma, child abuse, parenting, and the intersection of psychology and Jewish thought.
Before his current position, Dr. Pelcovitz served as a clinical professor of psychology and education at Columbia University’s Teachers College, and as Director of Psychology at North Shore University Hospital-NYU School of Medicine. His academic and clinical work has been foundational in integrating psychological science with traditional Jewish teachings and values, helping to bridge modern psychology with religious life.
Dr. Pelcovitz has consulted on various projects both nationally and internationally, and is a sought-after speaker for his insights into psychological resilience, family dynamics, and educational leadership.
