Shabbat Shalom Fax of Life
Shabbat Shalom Fax of Life is not a person but a weekly fax service that began in the 1990s to provide inspirational messages and Jewish wisdom. The service was designed to enhance the Shabbat (Sabbath) experience for Jews around the world by offering reflections, stories, and insights related to the weekly Torah portion and other aspects of Jewish thought and tradition.
The Fax of Life was innovative in its use of technology to spread Jewish learning and inspiration at a time when the internet was not yet widely used for such purposes. Each week, subscribers would receive a fax containing a short d'var Torah (a talk or sermon on a topic of Jewish law or ethics) along with anecdotes and teachings that highlight the values and ethics of Judaism, aimed at enriching the spiritual life of its readers.
Over time, the Shabbat Shalom Fax of Life has adapted to changes in technology and now also distributes its content via email and online platforms. Despite these changes, its core mission remains the same: to bring Jewish wisdom into the homes and hearts of people across the globe, enhancing their observance of Shabbat and deepening their connection to Jewish traditions and values.
