Y. Y. Schneerson

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, commonly known as the Lubavitcher Rebbe or simply the Rebbe, was a Russian Empire-born American Orthodox Jewish rabbi, and the last Rebbe of the Lubavitch Hasidic dynasty. He is considered one of the most influential Jewish leaders of the 20th century, and he was the seventh and last leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. He was born on April 18, 1902, in Nikolaev, Russian Empire (now Mykolaiv, Ukraine), and passed away on June 12, 1994, in New York City. The Rebbe was known for his contributions to Jewish thought and Jewish religious and educational outreach, and he was also a strong advocate for the welfare of Jews worldwide. His teachings and leadership have inspired millions around the world, and his impact on Judaism and the broader world continues to be felt long after his passing.
