My Israel Seventy Faces of the Land

In the brief history of the State of Israel, what we have achieved collectively as a people exceeds the brightest dreams of our founding fathers, perhaps beyond their imagination. The story of Israel is a story of our people. It is a story of a diversified society that continues to thrive and grow strong, from one generation to another. This book is a journey of discovery, designed to learn about Israel through the eyes of people we have met over the years – people whose hard work and dreams we learned to respect. It all started with a childhood friend, Ilan Greenfield, who became a companion of mine for this journey. Ilan agreed to work with me on publishing this book, and I am grateful for his dedication and friendship. We decided to invite some seventy individuals, women and men from all walks of life, to share with us their own individual perspectives on what they consider to be “My Israel.” We asked each of them to choose one place that represents for them the essence of being an Israeli and share with us why they picked that specific location. The result of their work is putforward in this book, showing the magic of a colorful landscape. We hope this project will give you an opportunity to meet and learn about the people participating in this volume and to be exposed to some of the most beautiful and interesting spots in Israel, whether you are seeing them for the first time or getting reacquainted through different lenses.
