EDUCATION

Synopsis

Teaching their children to observe mitzvot has always been considered one of parents' major responsibilities, one on which the future of the Jewish people depends. Because of this, exact knowledge of the parameters of their obligations is all the more important. It is often unclear which mitzvot should be taught at what age - and just how they should be taught.

These obligations have been carefully defined by Halakhah, and Rabbi Singer's Parent's Guide provides a comprehensive and organized manual for Jewish parents. Teaching daily mitzvot, Shabbat and festivals, and "occasional" mitzvot, such as Bar and Bat Mitzvas, are all discussed. Two areas in which guidance is hard to come by are also covered - child-care and the exceptional requirements of special children.
