Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried

Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried was born in 1804 in Ungvar, then part of the Kingdom of Hungary (now Uzhhorod, Ukraine). He was a renowned Orthodox rabbi and a respected posek (Jewish legal scholar). His most famous work is the 'Kitzur Shulchan Aruch,' a concise version of the Shulchan Aruch, which is a codification of Jewish law. Ganzfried created this work to provide a clear and easy guide for Jews who did not have the time or the extensive learning to navigate the more comprehensive Shulchan Aruch. Rabbi Ganzfried's Kitzur Shulchan Aruch quickly became a popular text for Jewish communities around the world and remains widely used to this day. Rabbi Ganzfried passed away in 1886, leaving behind a legacy as a pivotal figure in Jewish religious scholarship.
