Michael Steinhardt

Michael Steinhardt is a prominent American investor, hedge fund manager, and philanthropist. He was born on December 7, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York. Steinhardt completed his graduation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1960. After his education, he started his career in finance and eventually founded his own hedge fund, Steinhardt Partners, in 1967. The fund achieved an average annual return of 24% before fees during its 28-year history, making Steinhardt a legend in Wall Street circles.

Beyond his financial career, Michael Steinhardt is also known for his significant contributions to Jewish causes and education. He is one of the co-founders of Birthright Israel, a not-for-profit educational organization that sponsors free ten-day heritage trips to Israel for young adults of Jewish heritage, aged 18–32. This program is aimed at strengthening Jewish identity and solidarity with Israel.

Steinhardt has also been involved in various other philanthropic activities, focusing particularly on education and wildlife conservation. He has donated millions to various educational institutions and conservation projects. His philanthropic efforts extend beyond Jewish causes, reflecting his broad interests in improving society and education at large.
