Ron Dermer

Ron Dermer is an American-born Israeli political consultant and diplomat who served as Israel's Ambassador to the United States from 2013 to 2021. Born in 1971 in Miami Beach, Florida, Dermer moved to Israel in the 1990s and soon became deeply involved in Israeli politics. He is known for his close relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu, serving as his senior advisor before his appointment as ambassador.

During his tenure as ambassador, Dermer was known for his articulate defense of Israeli policies and his role in strengthening U.S.-Israel relations. His tenure coincided with significant events, including the Iran nuclear deal negotiations and the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the U.S. government. Dermer's approach and style were sometimes seen as unapologetically direct, reflecting his deep commitment to Israel's security and diplomatic standing.

Apart from his diplomatic career, Dermer has co-authored 'The Case for Democracy' with Natan Sharansky, a book that explores the importance of democratic values in global governance and the fight against tyranny. His insights into diplomacy and international relations are informed by his extensive experience in both American and Israeli political contexts, making him a significant voice in discussions on Middle Eastern politics and the broader dialogue on democracy and international affairs.
