Rav Chaim Kanievsky

Rav Chaim Kanievsky was a leading Orthodox rabbi and a prominent authority in Haredi Jewish society. Born on January 8, 1928, in Pinsk, Poland (now Belarus), he was a descendant of a long line of noted rabbinic figures, including the Vilna Gaon. His family moved to Mandatory Palestine in 1934, where he later emerged as a significant Torah scholar in Bnei Brak.

Rav Kanievsky was known for his vast knowledge in all areas of Jewish law and was often referred to as one of the generation's greatest poskim (Jewish legal scholars). He authored numerous works on Jewish law and thought, making substantial contributions to the study and application of the Torah and Talmud. His insights and rulings have been highly influential in shaping contemporary Jewish practice.

Throughout his life, Rav Kanievsky was revered for his piety and dedication to Torah study. He passed away on March 18, 2022, leaving behind a legacy marked by his deep religious scholarship and his commitment to the Jewish community worldwide. His works and his teachings continue to inspire and guide many in the Haredi community and beyond.
